The YCM Alliance, part of YCM Technology USA Inc., has unveiled the RX65+ five-axis vertical machining center (VMC), engineered to deliver speed, rigidity and accuracy for demanding applications across industries including aerospace, medical, die and mold, automotive, and high-performance job shops.

With 24.40″ × 20.47″ × 18.11″ linear axis travel, 220 degrees of B-axis motion and a full 360 degrees in the C-axis, the RX65+ provides manufacturers with a flexible and precise machining platform. Its ram-type structure and trunnion rotary table enable the fast production of complex parts with fewer setups, while Meehanite castings produced in YCM’s own foundry ensure stiffness, vibration dampening and long-term thermal stability.

The RX65+ incorporates pre-tensioned, double nut ball screws and roller guideways across all axes for improved rigidity, enhanced surface finishes, and extended service life compared to traditional linear ball-type systems. Hand-scraped joints further maximize alignment and geometry, reducing reliance on electronic compensation and improving long-term accuracy.

At its core, the machine features a high-precision 18,000-rpm spindle with an HSK63A taper. The spindle is supported by air-oil lubrication, vibration sensors, and an integrated spindle chiller for thermal stability under continuous operation. High-pressure 1,000-psi coolant-through-spindle improves chip evacuation, allowing manufacturers to cut difficult materials while achieving fine finishes.

To meet strict tolerance requirements, the RX65+ employs linear scales in X, Y and Z axes and rotary scales in B and C axes, creating a fully closed-loop feedback system that minimizes thermal and mechanical error. The direct-drive trunnion rotary table offers a B-axis tilt range of +110/-110 degrees with full C-axis rotation, accommodating part diameters up to 650 mm (25.59″) and heights up to 450 mm (17.71″). This design reduces multiple setups and enhances throughput.

The machine is equipped with a Blum kinematics package that includes a TC52 spindle probe, LC50 laser tool setter, calibration ball and Axis Set software. These tools allow operators to easily calibrate and reset all five axes, simplifying rotary pivot point alignment and ensuring consistent accuracy in multi-axis machining.

Efficiency is supported with a 40/60 tool cam-type automatic tool changer (ATC), capable of 1.8-second tool-to-tool changes with heavy tool capability. An automatic ATC door reduces chip and coolant contamination, while inverter-driven cam-box motors provide rapid recovery after mishaps. The RX65+ also integrates multiple coolant management systems, including a spindle coolant ring, air blast, washdown gun and specialized shower coolant system with up to 10 nozzles. Chips are efficiently directed into a Jorgensen chip conveyor with Ecofilter, reducing downtime and maintenance requirements.

Powering the machine is the Heidenhain TNC7 control, which delivers a 0.5-m/s block processing time, 1,000-block lookahead and intuitive setup tools. The TNC7 enables smoother surface finishes and higher accuracy in simultaneous five-axis machining applications such as die and mold, while its Ethernet, USB and RS-232C connectivity options support integration into modern smart factory environments.

The RX65+ represents YCM Alliance’s commitment to delivering precision machining solutions that combine robust construction, high-speed cutting capability, and advanced control systems for manufacturers facing increasingly complex production demands.
