AVEVA, Government of Maharashtra Sign MOU to Accelerate Maharashtra Vision 2030!

AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Maharashtra to collaborate on the “Connected Maharashtra” initiative, an integral part of the state’s Vision 2030 roadmap. The partnership aims to leverage digital transformation, industrial AI, and cross-sector innovation to position Maharashtra as India’s first fully connected state, driving efficiency, sustainability, and resilience across critical industries and infrastructure.
The collaboration is designed to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, improve revenue generation, and support the state’s sustainability goals. It also seeks to accelerate the adoption of smart and integrated solutions across Maharashtra’s infrastructure, including water, energy, and mobility. By deploying industrial AI, data platforms, and predictive technologies, the initiative will help departments optimize operations, improve citizen services, and build long-term digital capability.
As part of the MOU, a phased approach has been planned, beginning with the “Lighthouse Project – Discovery Phase.” The objectives of this initial stage include accelerating digital transformation of key sectors, developing a unified platform to enable seamless data exchange between government departments and private partners, and fostering an ecosystem of collaboration among system integrators, academia, enterprises, and policymakers. It also focuses on aligning technological adoption with sustainability goals under Maharashtra Vision 2030 and the state’s Net Zero commitments, while demonstrating tangible value through pilot use cases that deliver measurable returns on investment and efficiency improvements.

The partnership builds on AVEVA’s successful history of supporting Maharashtra’s public infrastructure. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the state deployed the AVEVA PI System to unify monitoring and reporting of drinking water schemes, ensuring safety and reliability for millions. Similarly, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation implemented a unified operations system integrating utilities, transport, and infrastructure, which has already led to a 15–20% reduction in energy use and emissions and a 15–18% decrease in water losses, supporting its vision of becoming India’s most livable city by 2030.
The Connected Maharashtra initiative builds on these achievements as a cornerstone of the state’s Vision 2030. Future phases will aim to scale pilot projects, expand smart infrastructure deployment across additional sectors, and strengthen digital capabilities through training, collaboration, and innovation, ultimately setting Maharashtra on a path toward becoming India’s model of connected and sustainable development.
