Is That Machine Really That BIG? Paul Returns to Starrag Bielefeld!

Friday 24 October 2025, 9:19:43 PM

Back in January 2023, MTDCNC’s Paul visited the Starrag factory in Bielefeld, Germany, to see something truly extraordinary — the largest vertical turning lathe (VTL) he had ever encountered. The sheer scale of the machine was breathtaking, and as the photos show, it was an engineering marvel built for serious heavy-duty work.

That same machine was later installed in Denmark, where it now plays a key role machining massive components for the wind and energy sector. With its precision, stability, and size, it’s a perfect example of Starrag’s expertise in delivering solutions for some of the most demanding applications in the world.

Now, Paul is heading back to Bielefeld to see the latest developments in Starrag’s VTL range, where innovation continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in large-component machining.

You’ll be able to catch all the action, interviews, and machine footage on the MTDCNC channel this November — so make sure to follow and subscribe.

Because when it comes to Starrag’s VTLs… seeing is believing. ⚙️
