Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has reached a significant milestone with the production of its 500,000th engine at the Chakan facility in Maharashtra. This plant, with an annual production capacity of around 189,000 vehicles, manufactures models for both Skoda and Volkswagen, while also playing a pivotal role in the Volkswagen Group’s export operations.

The company has invested heavily in adapting TSI technology to meet the specific needs of the Indian market. With operations in India since 2001, the Volkswagen Group, which encompasses brands such as Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini, continues to see India as a key growth market.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India’s commitment to India is reflected in its India 2.0 strategy, which focuses on positioning the country as a key global manufacturing hub. The company is focused on localizing production and technology to cater to Indian consumers’ needs. The plant in Chakan, along with the company’s manufacturing operations in Pune, underscores its ongoing investment in R&D and manufacturing to further strengthen its presence in India and contribute to the country’s growing stature as a global automotive hub.
