Sandvik Coromant has unveiled the CoroTap 100 with -PM geometry, a new generation of high-performance straight flute cut taps engineered specifically for ISO P materials. Designed to deliver uninterrupted precision threading, this tool family addresses common challenges in chip control and surface finish quality, helping manufacturers achieve smoother, more efficient production.

The CoroTap 100 -PM geometry features a refined chip-breaking design that effectively manages chip formation and evacuation during the tapping process. This innovation eliminates the need for manual chip removal, minimizing production interruptions and tool damage risks. The result is a more stable threading operation that enhances tool life, consistency, and overall productivity.

A key aspect of this tool’s engineering lies in its internal coolant capability. The design allows for efficient chip evacuation and ensures clean, high-quality surface finishes, particularly in blind holes where chip accumulation is a concern. For through-hole applications, Sandvik Coromant recommends using external coolant through collets or nozzles to maintain optimal cutting conditions and extend tool performance.

The CoroTap 100 series is part of a broader family of taps designed for versatility across multiple materials. In addition to ISO P steels, the range includes geometries optimized for ISO K (cast iron), ISO N (non-ferrous materials), and ISO H (hardened steels). The product line also covers a complete selection of tap types — including straight flute, spiral point, spiral flute, and forming taps — allowing users to choose the best configuration for their specific machining requirements.

By combining precision geometry, advanced coolant integration, and robust material compatibility, Sandvik Coromant’s CoroTap 100 -PM geometry sets a new standard for reliable, high-efficiency threading in steel. It reflects the company’s continued focus on developing solutions that enhance process security, reduce downtime, and deliver superior surface quality in demanding production environments.
