Hexagon Introduces AI-Powered CAM Software to Revolutionize Part Programming!

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence has unveiled its new ProPlanAI CAM programming tool, designed to significantly streamline the part programming process and boost operational efficiency for machine shops. The tool, which leverages AI technology powered by Microsoft Azure, is expected to reduce programming time by up to 75%, enabling machine shops to scale operations and achieve excellence in production.
The ProPlanAI tool is integrated with Hexagon’s Nexus platform, a cloud-based solution for discrete manufacturers, and uses Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service, Cosmos DB, and Azure Databricks to automate time-consuming process planning. The AI-powered tool is capable of learning from a company’s existing data, allowing it to predict ideal outcomes and tailor programming suggestions based on company-specific preferences, production capabilities, and needs.
By streamlining part programming, ProPlanAI not only saves valuable time but also helps manufacturers identify best practices and deviations from programming standards. It makes better use of product manufacturing information embedded in design files, further automating CNC programming. Additionally, the software will feature a “copilot” that guides users through machine setup and presents optimized programs. This functionality also includes support features, such as process tips and the best machining strategies, as well as chat functionality for specific queries and command initiation.
ProPlanAI will be available starting Q1 2025 as an add-on subscription for customers using Hexagon’s Espirit Edge CAM software, offering them a powerful tool for enhanced productivity and operational consistency in their manufacturing processes.
