Behringer Launches HBE663A Performance Horizontal Bandsaw for Bundled and Solid Materials!
By Ashutosh Arora
Behringer Saws Inc. has introduced the HBE663A Performance horizontal bandsaw, a heavy-duty, precision-engineered solution designed for both bundle cutting and single cuts of solid materials. Built with advanced automation and robust construction, the machine is engineered to meet the rigorous demands of modern manufacturing, offering versatility, precision, and efficiency in high-volume production environments.
At the heart of the HBE663A Performance is a double-clamping vice system that securely holds both the starting material and the finished cut, ensuring maximum stability. The retracting fixed vice jaws allow precise positioning of even strapped bundles, enhancing cutting accuracy. Robust vertical clamping devices keep bundles firmly in place during sawing, delivering repeatable, high-quality results across a range of material types.
The saw’s servo down-feed system, powered by a ball screw and servo motor, minimizes idle times while delivering exceptional feed precision. This system not only boosts cutting performance but also extends band life, translating into greater productivity and lower operating costs. An automatic guide arm further enhances sawing results by adjusting seamlessly to varying material sizes without operator intervention.
For complex cutting jobs, the cutting pressure control system automatically adapts feed rates to changing cross-sections—an especially valuable feature when processing tubes and profiles. The integrated Auto-Feed-Control (AFC) system draws on a comprehensive material database to calculate optimal saw feed and cutting speeds, ensuring consistent precision across different materials.
The HBE663A Performance also excels in handling heavy workpieces. Its feeding gripper manages loads with accuracy, and users can choose optional single-stroke feeding lengths of 1,500 mm or 3,000 mm to match production requirements. The machine’s robust portal-design guide system combines a low-vibration saw frame with a linear guide system, ensuring high precision and long service life while supporting economical use of carbide saw blades.
With a cutting range of 26 inches for round materials and 28 x 26 inches for flat materials at 90°, the saw accommodates both large and small workpieces—down to 0.8 inches in diameter for round stock and 0.8 x 0.8 inches for flat stock. Powered by a 7.4 hp drive with adjustable blade speeds from 33 to 360 fpm, the HBE663A delivers adaptability for different materials and cutting conditions.
Efficient material handling is supported by a chip conveyor system with a funnel-shaped base and paddle-style conveyor, coupled with an integrated coolant tank for optimal chip and heat management. The machine’s cast iron band guiding parts, manufactured in-house by Behringer, deliver vibration damping directly at the cutting edge, enhancing tool life and precision.
Measuring 88.6 inches in length, 173.2 inches in width, and 108.7 inches in height, and weighing 14,330 lbs, the HBE663A Performance is built for industrial strength. Users can also customize the machine to fit their exact production needs, ensuring optimal performance for specific applications.
By combining automation, precision, and durability, the HBE663A Performance underscores Behringer’s position as a leader in high-performance bandsawing technology, offering manufacturers a reliable, customizable solution for today’s diverse and demanding production environments.
