No ‘Big Bore’ with World’s smallest digital boring head from ITC
The world’s smallest digital fine boring head is now available from Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC). Developed by BIG KAISER, a global leader in premium high-precision tooling systems and solutions, the EWE Downsize, also known as EWE 04-7 is now exclusively available in the UK from the Tamworth cutting tool experts.
The EWE Downsize is part of BIG KAISER’s latest 4th generation of fine boring heads and it aims to improve the machining process, making workpiece production safer, faster and simpler – thus improving process reliability. To be as compact as possible, the EWE Downsize does not have its own display to show diameter adjustment. Instead, it connects wirelessly via an app that has been specially developed by BIG KAISER for use on Smartphones, tablets and smart watches.
Capable of running on both iOS and Android operating systems, the external app substantially simplifies the monitoring and configuration of fine boring heads to make operators more efficient and reduce the risk of costly errors. Tolerance zones are indicated by dynamically changing colors on the display of the remote smart device. This further improves process reliability.

The EWE Downsize has a length of 26mm and an outer diameter of 19.6mm, which makes it ideal for machine tools with spindle sizes of ISO 20, HSK-E25 and larger. The head covers a diameter range of 0.4 mm to 7mm and allows infinite length adjustment of the tool holder and a maximum machining depth of 16mm.
