Seco Launches Next-Generation Round 20 Copy Mills for Superior Versatility and Productivity
Seco Tools has unveiled the new generation of its Round 20 copy mills and inserts, delivering enhanced performance and versatility for a broad range of milling applications. Designed for face, side, slot, plunge, and ramp milling, the new Round 20 series provides a high-performance solution for machining operations across a wide spectrum of materials.
Building on the trusted performance of previous models, the updated Round 20 inserts are fully compatible with earlier cutter bodies, ensuring a seamless transition for existing users. The new inserts offer improved productivity in difficult-to-machine materials such as steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA), cast iron, and hardened steels. Their large diameter design also enables high material removal rates, offering an economical way to achieve R10mm radii with 20mm round inserts.
“The new generation of Round 20 represents a significant step forward from its predecessors,” said Benoit Patriarca, Product Manager at Seco Tools. “With today’s Round 20, inserts can be indexed to four, six, or eight positions, allowing users to match insert usage to their specific depth of cut. This flexibility not only extends tool life but also allows customers to continue using existing cutter bodies designed for four or eight indexing positions.”
To further enhance durability and reduce downtime, the Round 20 system incorporates a modular design with insert shims and cassettes. These features help protect the cutter body from damage during unexpected breakage, reducing repair costs and production interruptions.
The Round 20 product line includes 16 cutter bodies, four shim options, three cassette types, and 30 indexable inserts — providing manufacturers with a wide range of configurations to meet various operational demands.
