
STMicroelectronics Appoints Anand Kumar as Managing Director for India!

STMicroelectronics has announced the appointment of Anand Kumar as Managing Director for its India operations, following the retirement of Vivek Sharma after a distinguished 34-year career with the company. This leadership change signals a renewed focus on innovation, resilience, and growth in one of the world’s fastest-emerging semiconductor markets.
Based at ST’s Greater Noida headquarters, Anand Kumar will be responsible for overseeing operations, accelerating growth strategy, and spearheading innovation initiatives that align with both local and global objectives. Kumar has been with STMicroelectronics for 26 years, holding key positions across design, engineering, and leadership roles. The company noted that this appointment reflects its commitment to strengthening its long-term presence in India.
The transition also marks the retirement of Vivek Sharma, who played a pivotal role in expanding ST’s footprint in India and establishing its reputation as a trusted leader in semiconductors. His tenure saw the company navigate major technological and industry shifts, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and growth.
Kumar brings extensive expertise in leadership, product innovation, and business transformation. Recognised for holding over 20 patents in semiconductor IP design, he is an alumnus of Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Delhi, with a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
According to the company, Kumar’s appointment demonstrates STMicroelectronics’ intent to strengthen resilience, advance innovation, and leverage India’s expanding talent pool. By doing so, the company aims to reinforce its role as a critical contributor to the global semiconductor ecosystem.
