With release 2020.2 of its CAD/CAM suite hyperMILL®, OPEN MIND Technologies is pushing ahead with the automation and integration of additive manufacturing. At the same time, the developers at OPEN MIND have implemented numerous functions to make daily machining even easier. Highlights of hyperMILL® 2020.2 are new strategies for machining cutting edges, extensions for milling turning, parametric design in hyperCAD®-S and the ‘hyperMILL® AUTOMATION Center Advanced‘.
The 3D and 5-axis strategies for machining cutting edges have been expanded to include plunge milling cycles. The material can now be removed by rolling or stabbing. The latter reduces the generation of vibrations on cutting edges with high walls and thus improves the surface result. Any residual material processing with a smaller tool can be easily calculated using a reference job.
