Represented in the UK by TDT Machine Tools, the AMB exhibition gave MTDCNC an opportunity to review the latest IMT Intermato range of machine tools.

Speaking with Georgio Pizzi on the IMT Intermato stand in Stuttgart, MTDCNC were told: “This is a new machine we produce for the automotive sector for machining parts like hubs, wheels and flanges. The WR3 Line is a turning centre that can machine from 100 to 400mm and other machines in the range vary up to 7m capacity, so we can cover the whole market.”

With regard to the specifics of the machine, Georgio continues: “The structure and build of the machine is very rigid and this gives the correct characteristics for precision machining. The machine is equipped with well known branded components and this guarantees a quality structural performance. The CNC control unit can be selected from a number of options by the customer, like FANUC or Siemens. The tooling processes and configuration of the machine can also be selected by the end user.”

The machine at AMB was a self loading VTL centre with 300mm diameter capacity with other options available up to 400mm diameter with a Y-axis option for additional flexibility and capability. “The machine has a very small footprint as the space and layout is ever more critical to the customer. The machine has been designed to work in a ‘line’ configuration alongside additional similar machine with a centralised conveyor feeding all machine tools.
