Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Launch India’s Largest TATA.ev MegaCharger Hub on World EV Day!

The Tata Power Company Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility and a leader in EV charging solutions, has partnered with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEM), the country’s largest four-wheeler EV manufacturer, to launch Mumbai’s first premium, large-scale EV charging hub under the TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative. The landmark unveiling coincided with World EV Day and was jointly officiated by Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Power, and Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited.
Strategically located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, within the premises of The Leela Mumbai Hotel, the new TATA.ev MegaCharger hub is designed to serve a broad spectrum of EV users. From private car owners, ride-hailing services, and taxis to last-mile logistics fleets, the hub offers clean mobility solutions in one of Mumbai’s busiest transit zones. With its prime position along the Andheri–Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC)–South Mumbai corridor, it is ideally placed to support business travelers, tourists, hotel guests, and city commuters alike.
The facility is equipped with eight fast DC chargers offering speeds of up to 120 kW and 16 dedicated charging bays, enabling up to 16 EVs to be charged simultaneously. This scale ensures a seamless, low-wait experience for users even during peak hours, setting a new benchmark for charging convenience and reliability in urban India.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Praveer Sinha highlighted the strategic significance of the initiative: “The launch of this fast-charging hub, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors, demonstrates our integrated approach to accelerating India’s transition toward green mobility. Strategically located and powered entirely by renewable energy, this facility sets a new standard for future-ready EV infrastructure. As we expand similar hubs across major cities, Tata Power remains committed to delivering clean energy solutions and promoting large-scale EV adoption nationwide.”
Adding to this, Shailesh Chandra underlined Tata Motors’ commitment to both vehicles and infrastructure: “Tata Motors has been at the forefront of India’s EV transformation—not only by providing world-class electric vehicles but also by actively supporting the development of a robust charging ecosystem. Our longstanding partnership with Tata Power has been key in incubating and expanding the EV charging infrastructure in India. The inauguration of this TATA.ev MegaCharger—the first of many such installations—is a significant step in our mission to build a fast, reliable, and widespread charging network. We look forward to further scaling this partnership and empowering EV owners across the country.”
The hub is part of the growing TATA.ev MegaCharger network, spearheaded by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited to create an inclusive EV charging ecosystem accessible to all EV users. Exclusive benefits are also available for TATA.ev customers, including discounts of up to 25% and priority charging access.
This launch further cements Tata Power’s position as the backbone of India’s EV charging infrastructure, aligning with its ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ movement. With more than 5,500 public and captive EV charging points, over 140,000 home chargers, and 1,200+ bus charging points across 630+ cities and towns—including a network of 1,000 chargers in Mumbai alone—Tata Power continues to drive India’s green mobility transformation at scale.
