Musashi India has completed Phase 2 of its Bengaluru facility expansion, marking a major step in strengthening its manufacturing capabilities for two-wheeler and four-wheeler transmission components. The expansion adds an additional 11,000 square metres of production space, enabling the company to significantly increase its annual output from four million to 6.5 million sets of scooter and motorcycle transmissions. This increase positions the Bengaluru plant as a key contributor to Musashi’s growing demand across domestic and international markets.

The upgraded facility is expected to be fully operational by December 2025. With the expanded footprint and enhanced production systems, Musashi India anticipates boosting its plant output value from Rs 5.5 billion to Rs 10 billion. The new phase incorporates a wider range of manufacturing capabilities—including forging, machining, and heat treatment—supported by advanced automation technologies such as gear grinding systems and robotic units. These additions are designed to improve precision, efficiency, and scalability while meeting the stringent quality requirements of the automotive industry.

As part of the expansion, the Bengaluru plant will also serve as a central hub for prototype testing of transmissions and e-axles. This will enhance Musashi’s ability to innovate, validate designs faster, and support emerging trends in electric mobility. The new facility layout and production workflow aim to streamline development cycles and provide customers with reliable, high-performance components for both traditional and electrified drivetrains.

Musashi India has also integrated several sustainability initiatives into the expanded plant as part of its global commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2038. The facility now operates a 2.16 million kWh rooftop solar system and sources over 96 percent of its energy from green sources, including hydro, wind, rooftop solar, and captive renewables. Natural ventilation systems help reduce reliance on energy-intensive cooling, while emission control devices ensure cleaner generator operations. These features underscore Musashi’s focus on reducing environmental impact while scaling production in a responsible and future-ready manner.

With its enhanced capacities, advanced automation, and strong sustainability framework, the expanded Bengaluru plant strengthens Musashi India’s position as a leading supplier in the automotive transmission segment. The facility is now better equipped to meet rising demand, support technological advancements, and contribute to both India’s manufacturing ecosystem and global supply chains.
