Mahindra Launches 180 kW High-Speed EV Charging Network!
By Ashutosh Arora
Mahindra has introduced its ultra-fast Charge_IN network, beginning with the deployment of 180 kW high-speed chargers as part of a broader plan to establish 250 charging stations with more than 1,000 charging points by 2027. This initiative supports the company’s commitment to accelerating electric mobility in India and aligns with national efforts to expand and strengthen public EV charging infrastructure.
The first two Charge_IN stations are now operational—one located in Hoskote on NH 75 between Bengaluru and Chennai, and another in Murthal on NH 44, approximately 50 km from Delhi. These initial installations mark an important start to Mahindra’s goal of building a robust, reliable nationwide fast-charging network. Each site features two ultra-fast chargers capable of charging up to four electric vehicles simultaneously, providing both convenience and capacity for EV users on busy intercity routes.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, Chief Executive Officer – Automotive Division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and Executive Director at Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd, emphasised that the rise of electric mobility signifies a major step toward environmentally responsible transportation. He noted that upcoming Mahindra models such as the XEV 9e and BE 6, each offering real-world ranges of around 500 km, are designed to give customers greater assurance for long-distance journeys. The Charge_IN network, he added, is intended to create an open and easily accessible fast-charging ecosystem for all EV drivers, making long road trips in electric vehicles as smooth and dependable as conventional travel.
Mahindra’s Charge_IN stations will exclusively feature 180 kW dual-gun DC fast chargers engineered to deliver rapid and consistent charging performance. These chargers will allow vehicles such as the XEV 9e, BE 6, and the upcoming XEV 9S to charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes, significantly reducing downtime and improving the practicality of highway travel for EV owners.
To further enhance the customer experience, Charge_IN hubs will be strategically located along major national highways and integrated with comfortable wayside amenities such as cafés and restaurants. Travellers can relax or take a break while their vehicles recharge. Mahindra eSUV users can locate, initiate, and pay for charging sessions through the Me4U app, which also provides access to nearly 34,000 public charging points across multiple charge point operators. The Charge_IN network is open to EVs from all manufacturers through the “Charge_IN by Mahindra” app as well as various aggregator platforms, offering flexibility and accessibility for the wider EV community.
Mahindra’s high-speed Charge_IN network represents a major step forward for India’s EV charging ecosystem. By combining charging speed, nationwide expansion plans, and user-friendly digital connectivity, the initiative is designed to make EV ownership more practical, convenient, and travel-friendly for customers across the country.
