Jorgensen Coolant Filtration Systems Boost Chip Evacuation and Reduce Downtime!
By Ashutosh Arora
Jorgensen Conveyor and Filtration Solutions has introduced a new lineup of coolant and chip-management technologies designed to help manufacturers improve productivity, reduce maintenance, and extend tooling life. The company’s Flexforce high-pressure coolant system, Ecofilter 80 conveyor and updated Magnetic Conveyor each address specific challenges in metalworking environments, including chip evacuation, coolant contamination and system reliability.
The Flexforce system is engineered for machine tools that require high-pressure coolant delivery of 500–1000 psig for through-spindle coolant applications. By directing coolant precisely at the cutting zone, the system breaks through the vapor barrier formed during machining, allowing coolant to reach the cutting edge more effectively. This targeted flow improves chip evacuation, enhances cooling performance and stabilizes cutting conditions. Flexforce includes a compact onboard reservoir, a diaphragm pump, maintenance-friendly access and optional features like single or duplex bag filtration and a chiller. For applications that fall outside standard configurations, Jorgensen also offers custom-engineered units or complete coolant filtration solutions.
Complementing the high-pressure system is the Ecofilter 80, a permanent-media conveyor designed for low-maintenance filtration below 100 microns. As coolant passes through the machine, larger chips are carried away on a hinged steel belt, while fine chips are captured in the Ecofilter cell, achieving filtration to 80-micron nominal. This filtration capability significantly limits the amount of debris that reaches the coolant tank, reducing tank clean-outs, protecting pumps and improving overall coolant life. Users also benefit from better surface finishes due to cleaner coolant and more consistent machining conditions. For shops that require a coarser filtration level, Jorgensen also offers the Ecofilter 200, which filters down to 200 microns and can be retrofitted to Ecofilter-Ready conveyors.
The company has also updated its Magnetic Conveyor, a solution suited for moving small ferrous chips, fines, parts and stamping slugs. Its internal flange configuration enables a tighter fit around machine tools, reducing the overall footprint. The conveyor’s fully enclosed, water-tight construction allows it to operate reliably in harsh environments. Beneath a rugged stainless-steel slider plate, powerful magnets collect and carry ferrous material up the incline to discharge. With no external moving parts, the Magnetic Conveyor delivers safe operation, low maintenance requirements and long service life.
Together, Jorgensen’s Flexforce, Ecofilter and Magnetic Conveyor systems provide manufacturers with improved chip evacuation, cleaner coolant, reduced downtime and better machining performance. These solutions are designed to integrate seamlessly into existing setups, helping shops enhance productivity while lowering long-term operating costs.
