DMG MORI Launches New DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U for High-Performance 5-Sided Machining
Precision engineering takes a major step forward with the introduction of DMG MORI’s new DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U five-sided machining centres. Based on the robust and proven design of the manufacturer’s DMV three-axis vertical machining centres, these latest models deliver high-performance, efficient, and cost-effective machining solutions. DMG MORI is represented in the UK by Coventry-based DMG Mori UK Ltd.
The DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U are designed to accommodate workpieces weighing up to 300kg and 350kg, respectively. With generous working envelopes—600 x 600 x 510mm on the DMX 60 U and 800 x 600 x 510mm on the DMX 80 U—these three-plus-two-axis machines are perfect for complex component production in a wide range of industries.
A monolithic machine bed and massive castings provide exceptional rigidity, up to 50% higher static stiffness than previous models. Paired with wide roller guideways, this foundation ensures stable and precise machining even under dynamic conditions. Rapid traverse rates of up to 42 m/min and increased B- and C-axis positioning speeds (from 6 to 10 rev/min) further boost productivity.
Advanced multi-sensor temperature compensation, direct drives, and linear scales in the X and Y axes offer precise positioning and repeatable accuracy—ideal for high-precision parts.
Each model comes standard with a 12,000 rpm inlineMASTER spindle, while optional SpeedMASTER spindles with up to 20,000 rpm or 200 Nm torque support versatile machining needs. The BIG PLUS face-and-taper toolholding interface ensures additional rigidity and machining accuracy, with tool magazines ranging from 30 to 120 pockets.
Designed with process integration in mind, the DMX U machines support the incorporation of operations such as grinding directly in the machining area, reducing the need for secondary machines and set-ups. Full automation is enabled via DMG MORI’s Robo2Go Milling, MATRIS Light, and PH Cell pallet handling systems.
Running on a Siemens Sinumerik ONE or Heidenhain TNC7 CNC system with the CELOS X digital interface, the machines offer seamless integration into digital manufacturing environments. Additionally, DMG MORI’s GreenMode reduces energy consumption by 10%, aligning high-performance machining with sustainability goals.
The DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U mark another milestone in DMG MORI’s mission to deliver smart, sustainable, and highly flexible machining solutions for manufacturers worldwide.
