What is the magic behind wire EDM? Tom Skubala of MTDCNC and Andrew Evans of EUROSPARK discuss the brilliant engineering behind the JOEMARS wire EDM. Opposite to welding, the process works by causing minute sparks for microseconds. Andrew shares how these wire EDMs allow both online and offline programming and are one of the easiest machines to program. Within half a day, people can learn how to use the machine and have it running on the shop floor to make exciting parts! Tom and Andrew discuss some great features of the machine, including automatic wire threading, submerged cutting, and a chilling unit as part of the standard package. But this machine can also do 24-degree taper cuts over 80mm, allowing for more complex parts that have different profiles.
