Tata AutoComp Wins Third Deming Prize in Just Two Years!
By Ashutosh Arora
Tata AutoComp Systems has achieved an exceptional milestone by securing its third Deming Prize within a span of two years, reaffirming its position as one of India’s strongest champions of Total Quality Management (TQM). The latest honour goes to Tata AutoComp Hendrickson Suspensions Ltd (THSL), which has now become the first global commercial vehicle suspension manufacturer to receive the prestigious award. This recognition follows the wins by Tata AutoComp’s Composites Division and Tata Ficosa in 2024, underscoring the organisation’s rapid advancement in quality excellence.
The Deming Prize, one of the world’s most respected awards for TQM, recognises organisations that have successfully institutionalised quality as a core driver of performance, innovation, and customer satisfaction. With three units now certified, Tata AutoComp is emerging as a benchmark for the Indian automotive components sector.
Reflecting on this milestone, Arvind Goel, Vice-Chairman of Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd, highlighted the deep cultural foundation behind these achievements. He noted that winning three Deming Prizes in two consecutive years demonstrates the company’s steadfast commitment to quality as it expands into new product categories, technologies, and markets. Goel emphasised that TQM at Tata AutoComp is a people-driven movement—one where every employee’s involvement strengthens the company’s ability to deliver world-class standards. He added that additional business units are already on a structured roadmap to adopt the TQM methodology and work toward future Deming Prize pursuits.
Manoj Kolhatkar, Managing Director & CEO, echoed this sentiment, stating that the prize represents more than operational excellence—it reflects a transformation toward customer-centricity and sustainable growth. He emphasised that fostering a quality mindset across the organisation has been central to elevating business performance and building long-term trust with customers.
The latest award marks a significant step in Tata AutoComp’s journey toward global quality leadership. THSL’s recognition is particularly notable for the commercial vehicle suspension industry, demonstrating how Indian manufacturing capabilities are increasingly being acknowledged at the highest international standards.
Looking ahead, Tata AutoComp plans to strengthen its TQM-based culture even further, embedding quality practices into all business units to drive continuous improvement, enhance competitiveness, and achieve future global accolades.
