Beard & Fitch Gears Up For Productivity with Feeler

Since its installation, the Feeler HV800 has performed like a dream for transmission manufacturers Beard & Fitch. The Harlow Company manufactures gears, shafts, drive shafts, couplings, sprockets, pulleys and much more.

When the North London Company needed a new machining centre, it chose very wisely with the Feeler HV800. Adrian Archer, Managing Director at Beard & Fitch says: “It’s been a very good machine for us. We originally bought it for one product, a gearbox part that we manufacture by the thousand on the machine. Now that contract has come to an end, we are making other products on the Feeler machine and this highlights how flexible the machine is for us.”

The high specification Feeler machine has a 15,000rpm high speed spindle that was specified for the company’s sizeable quantities of aluminium machining. However, the direct driven 22kW spindle motor also has the power and torque for more robust materials. “We are machining a lot of EN24 and you need a bit of grunt from your machine for that. The Feeler gives us this stability as well as offering us the cycle times that we need to be competitive,” concludes Mr Archer.
