Whirlpool Corp. achieves goal of Zero Waste to Landfill for manufacturing sites worldwide
Whirlpool Corporation accomplishes its global manufacturing locations’ zero waste to landfill goal.
In keeping with its ambitious and long-standing dedication to sustainable operations, Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR) today announced that it has achieved Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWtL) Gold or Platinum accreditation (self-certification) at its major manufacturing facilities worldwide1.
Whirlpool Corporation originally established its objective to achieve Zero Waste to Landfill in 2012 and has since continued to invest in plant efficiency and waste reduction, collaborating closely with recyclers and sustainability vendors to identify fresh, creative solutions to reduce trash and support the circular economy.
This objective is in line with the UL ECVP 2799 Zero Waste to Landfill standard, which calls for at least 95% diversion from landfills.
