Frankfurt, Germany – The Automation Association of the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA) – Valves Association elected a new board during its general assembly in Munich. Axel Weidner, Mankenberg GmbH, was re-elected as chairman of the association. Oliver D Gessert, KWC Aquarotter GmbH, is the new vice chairman.

Rolf Kummer (Armaturenfabrik Franz Schneider GmbH + Co KG), Martin Leser (LESER GmbH & Co KG), Johannes Rump (Oventrop GmbH & Co KG), are also members of the association’s executive board.

Aside from the current difficult global economic conditions, the German valve industry is still focused on the trend topics of digitalization and sustainability. On the turning point of Europe, Professor Dr Carlo Masala spoke at the event in Munich on the topic ‘War in Europe – What Does It Mean for the World Community?’ Professor Masala’s presentation shed light on the framework conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and addressed potential long-term consequences for global politics.

“Over the next four years, we will have to deal with the implications of the new geopolitical situation for the global economy together with the executive board,” added Wolfgang Burchard, Managing Director, VDMA Valves Association. “In parallel, the topics of digitalization and sustainable business are driving us and will require a rethink in many areas. This poses numerous challenges for the medium-sized valve industry, but the sector believes it is well prepared for them.”
