Tooling Tech Group (TTG), a leading provider of highly engineered tooling and automated assembly equipment for industries ranging from automotive to aerospace, has announced the appointment of Matthew Edwards as its new director of operations. In his role, Edwards will be responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day operations while driving collaboration across TTG’s divisions to streamline processes, strengthen efficiencies, and achieve organizational goals.

The appointment reflects TTG’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and customer-focused innovation. With decades of experience in manufacturing leadership, Edwards brings a proven record of success in lean manufacturing, cost performance, total quality management (TQM), and strategic capacity planning. His expertise will be vital as TTG continues to expand its footprint in the tooling and automation sectors, where precision, reliability, and speed are essential.

“Matt’s leadership abilities and business acumen have yielded excellent results at his previous OEM and Tier One endeavors,” said Lee Childers, CEO of Tooling Tech Group. “We look forward to him applying his skills to enhance our performance and to ensure we continue meeting the evolving needs of our customers.”

Edwards’ career spans 30 years in the automotive industry, with a strong emphasis on interiors production over the past 15 years. He began as a production supervisor at Ford/Visteon, where he quickly advanced to launch manager and manufacturing manager. His leadership in these roles provided valuable insights into high-volume automotive operations and the critical importance of efficiency in complex manufacturing environments.

Following his tenure at Ford/Visteon, Edwards joined Faurecia, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, where he advanced to become production director of the company’s Saline, Michigan plant. At Faurecia, he gained significant experience in managing large-scale operations while improving productivity, reducing costs, and maintaining quality standards in demanding production schedules.

Most recently, Edwards served as general manager for Antolin in Howell, Michigan, where he was responsible for multiple automotive interior facilities. In this position, he distinguished himself by significantly improving labor efficiencies, reducing scrap rates, and lowering quality rejections measured by parts per million (PPM) and quality rejects (QR). Importantly, these improvements were achieved without major customer disruptions, a testament to his ability to balance operational change with customer satisfaction.

Edwards’ educational background is equally impressive. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in both Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering, as well as a Master of Science in Engineering in Manufacturing Systems, all from the University of Michigan. In addition to his academic and professional accomplishments, Edwards is also credited with three U.S. patents, underscoring his technical expertise and innovative mindset.

As TTG continues to serve customers across automotive, aerospace, appliance, and consumer goods industries, the company views Edwards’ leadership as a key enabler of its growth strategy. His ability to unify teams, optimize processes, and introduce forward-looking operational practices will play an important role in maintaining TTG’s position as a trusted partner for complex tooling and automation solutions.

The appointment of Matthew Edwards not only adds depth to Tooling Tech Group’s leadership team but also signals the company’s focus on continuous improvement, scalability, and sustainable growth. With Edwards at the operational helm, TTG is poised to further enhance its manufacturing capabilities and deliver lasting value to its customers worldwide.
