Tata Motors has further strengthened its commitment to sustainable mobility with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art vehicle scrapping facility (RVSF) in Guwahati. Named ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect’, this facility is designed to dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles annually using eco-friendly and sustainable methods. Operated in partnership with Axom Platinum Scrappers, the facility caters to passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands, reinforcing Tata Motors’ efforts to promote safe, responsible vehicle disposal in India.

This marks Tata Motors’ seventh RVSF in the country, following successful launches in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, and Pune. The Guwahati facility, the first in Northeast India, will play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions, enhancing road safety, and supporting India’s circular economy goals.

The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Shri Jogen Mohan, Minister of Hill Areas Development, Transport, and Indigenous Culture, Shri Ashok Singhal, Minister of Health, Family Welfare, and Irrigation, along with Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, and Dr. Sanjive Narain, Director of Axom Automobiles.

Speaking at the event, Shri Jogen Mohan emphasized the facility’s significant role in boosting Assam’s economy and creating new employment opportunities. He also noted that the initiative would help safely dispose of end-of-life vehicles, reduce pollution, and contribute to a cleaner environment.

Shri Ashok Singhal echoed these sentiments, stating that the plant would enhance Assam’s vehicle disposal ecosystem, making the state greener and more sustainable.

Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, underscored the company’s long-term commitment to environmentally responsible vehicle scrapping, stating:
“With the opening of the Northeast’s first Re.Wi.Re facility in Guwahati, Tata Motors takes a major step toward responsible vehicle scrapping in the region. By adhering to circular economy principles, we are supporting sustainability through our network of RVSFs, which can now process over 100,000 end-of-life vehicles annually. We are grateful to Axom Platinum Scrappers for partnering with us and appreciate the unwavering support of the state government and local authorities in making this initiative possible.”

By expanding its network of vehicle scrapping facilities, Tata Motors is playing a pivotal role in India’s green mobility vision, ensuring safe, environmentally friendly disposal of old vehicles while reducing waste and promoting resource recovery.

The Guwahati facility is another step toward a more sustainable future. Stay tuned as Tata Motors continues to drive innovation in green mobility!
