Supertec Machinery has introduced two compact and versatile grinding machines—the Mini Genie CNC cylindrical grinder and the EGM-80CNC universal ID/OD grinder—designed to enhance productivity and precision in space-limited manufacturing environments. Both systems provide advanced grinding performance while supporting automation, making them ideal for modern machining applications.

The Mini Genie-2520CNC is specifically designed for shops where floor space is at a premium, with a footprint of less than 32.3 square feet. Despite its small size, the machine offers OD, end face, and form grinding capabilities. It is available in both plunge and anglehead models, giving users flexibility for different applications. A key feature of the Mini Genie is its 20″ × 2″ × 6″ grinding wheel powered by a 7.5-hp spindle motor. High precision is achieved through a Heidenhain linear scale capable of 0.000002″ accuracy, ensuring exact wheelhead positioning. To further improve part quality, a taper-adjustable tailstock eliminates potential taper errors in the workpiece.

Ease of programming and operation are central to the Mini Genie’s design. It comes equipped with a Mitsubishi M80 conversational control and Supertec’s proprietary i-Grind software, which provides intuitive programming for entry-level operators while also supporting advanced functions needed for complex part geometries. This combination makes the Mini Genie suitable for shops that require flexibility to handle a wide variety of small-batch and precision parts without sacrificing accuracy or efficiency.

The EGM-80CNC universal grinder is engineered for small, complex parts that demand high levels of accuracy. With a workpiece envelope of 3.15″ depth × 9.4″ swing and a weight capacity of 55 lbs., the EGM-80CNC is particularly effective at grinding precision chucking ID/OD geometries, as well as face and conical surfaces. Its spindle is designed for versatility, offering speeds from 8,000 to 50,000 rpm, enabling a wide range of grinding applications from fine surface finishes to aggressive material removal.

To ensure accuracy and repeatability, the EGM-80CNC is built with precision linear ways and ballscrews on all three axes. These features provide smooth, controlled movements that reduce cycle times while maintaining dimensional integrity. Like the Mini Genie, the EGM-80CNC is equipped with the Mitsubishi M80 control and i-Grind conversational software, allowing operators to easily program complex grinding tasks.

Supertec highlights that both machines can deliver significant cycle time savings when paired with automation. Optional features such as touch probes, automatic sizing devices, and robotic systems—either gantry-style or articulating-arm—can be integrated to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention. This automation-ready design ensures the grinders fit seamlessly into high-volume or unattended production environments, further boosting shop productivity.

Together, the Mini Genie and EGM-80CNC demonstrate Supertec’s commitment to providing compact, high-precision solutions that address the evolving needs of manufacturers. By combining small footprints, flexible programming, and automation compatibility, these grinders enable shops to achieve superior part quality, shorter cycle times, and improved overall efficiency in precision grinding operations.
