Silmax has expanded its global footprint with the launch of a new 10,000 sq. ft. manufacturing hub in Devanahalli, Bengaluru — a move that marks a significant milestone in the company’s long-term strategy to support India’s rapidly advancing aerospace and engineering sectors. Of the total space, 5,000 sq. ft. is already operational, enabling Silmax to begin production with an impressive monthly capacity of 4,000 to 5,000 cutting tools built to international quality standards.
This new facility underscores Silmax’s commitment to delivering comprehensive and dependable cutting tool solutions, while also positioning the company closer to key manufacturing clusters in southern India. With 25 professionals currently employed, Silmax plans to add 50 more team members over the next three years as demand for local production, faster customisation, and advanced tooling continues to grow.
A cornerstone of the company’s India strategy is workforce development. Beginning in 2026, Silmax will launch specialised skill-building programmes aimed at training engineering graduates in high-precision toolmaking. This initiative reflects the company’s belief that India’s machining ecosystem will be shaped by skilled talent capable of meeting global manufacturing standards.
According to Dario Maria Fumagalli, President and CEO of Silmax, Indian manufacturers increasingly require shorter lead times, dependable tool life, and rapid customisation. With the new Devanahalli facility fully operational, Silmax can respond faster, keep critical tooling closer to customer shop floors, and significantly reduce delivery cycles. He added that India’s strong push toward aerospace, defence, and advanced manufacturing aligns perfectly with Silmax’s heritage in precision tooling for demanding applications.
Echoing this vision, Francis Kumar, CEO of Silmax India, highlighted that the most valuable outcome of the new facility will be the development of skilled manpower. He emphasized that the upcoming training programmes will nurture young engineers into world-class toolmakers, ensuring long-term capability building for India’s machining industry.
Globally, Silmax operates manufacturing sites across Italy, Switzerland, China, and India, producing more than two million milling and drilling tools every year — including specialised, custom-designed solutions. With over 75 years of expertise in machining high-performance materials, the company’s expansion into Bengaluru strengthens its presence in one of the world’s most dynamic manufacturing markets. The new facility is expected to enhance production volumes, widen product diversification, and deepen customer engagement across India and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
By investing in infrastructure, talent, and technology, Silmax aims to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of precision manufacturing in India, supporting industries where accuracy, reliability, and innovation are paramount.
