Platinum Tooling Technologies introduces the U-Tec flexible changing system from Heimatec, designed to enable fast and efficient tool changeovers on almost any lathe or mill. This innovative system allows a standard ER output live tool to accommodate various adapters for different applications, all using a single tool, thus eliminating the need for a dedicated quick-change system from the outset.

The U-Tec system provides seamless adaptability, enabling tools such as a face-mill adapter to be quickly and securely positioned in the standard holder without requiring new tool purchases. This flexibility makes it an ideal solution for shops that need to adapt to diverse machining requirements quickly and cost-effectively.

Preben Hansen, President of Platinum Tooling, explains that the U-Tec system offers substantial user flexibility while ensuring a solid connection between the tool and the adapter. The polygon design in both the tool and adapter guarantees proper positioning and alignment, resulting in exceptional rigidity and torque transmission once the collet nut is clamped.

The system’s specialized collet nuts with internal threading enhance clamping stability, and the adapter system brings the cutting tool closer to the bearing, improving performance. Each U-Tec adapter is supplied with the necessary clamping nut and holding wrench, ensuring that the system is ready to use immediately.

U-Tec adapters are available in multiple outputs, including arbor, Weldon, ER extension, and blank styles, allowing manufacturers to tailor the system to their specific needs.
