Peak Toolworks Expands U.S. Footprint with Acquisition of Southern Carbide!
By Ashutosh Arora
Peak Toolworks, one of North America’s leading manufacturers and service providers of engineered diamond and carbide cutting tools, has announced the acquisition of Southern Carbide, Inc., a Shreveport, Louisiana-based company specializing in industrial cutting tools, sharpening, and repair services. The move marks a strategic expansion for Peak Toolworks, strengthening its presence in the southern U.S. while deepening its service-driven approach to tooling solutions.
Founded in 1997, Southern Carbide has built its reputation around a customer-focused model that prioritizes sharpening and repair services as the core of its business. Serving customers across North Louisiana, South Arkansas, East Texas, and Southeast Oklahoma, the company has consistently helped clients extend tool life, improve productivity, and reduce production costs. This approach has enabled manufacturers in the region to achieve greater efficiency and profitability by maximizing the value of their existing tooling investments.
According to Ron Bayus, CEO of Peak Toolworks, the partnership is a natural alignment of vision and values. “Southern Carbide’s service-first philosophy is a natural fit with Peak Toolworks’ approach to complete tooling solutions,” Bayus said. “Together, we’re combining deep technical expertise, superior service, and regional reach to ensure customers have access to the highest-performing tools and support in the industry.”
Shannon Walls, owner of Southern Carbide, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing how the acquisition would benefit both employees and customers. “We’ve always believed that sharpening and service are at the heart of great tooling performance,” Walls stated. “Joining the Peak Toolworks family allows us to build on that foundation while giving our customers access to an even broader range of products, technologies, and resources. It’s an exciting step forward for both our employees and customers.”
The acquisition strengthens Peak Toolworks’ position as a comprehensive provider of cutting tool manufacturing, reconditioning, and maintenance services, ensuring end-to-end solutions for industries that depend on high-performance tooling. It also reinforces the company’s strategy of regional expansion, enabling faster service turnaround times and closer customer relationships.
Peak Toolworks’ growth continues under the ownership of DBW Holdings, which is backed by Granite Creek Capital Partners and Canterbury Ventures, LLC, in partnership with Hidden River Strategic Capital and Muzinich BDC, Inc. The transaction was facilitated by Generational Group, which served as the exclusive advisor to Southern Carbide.
With this acquisition, Peak Toolworks not only broadens its geographical reach but also enhances its ability to deliver precision-engineered tooling and responsive service — two pillars that have defined its leadership in the cutting tool industry. The integration of Southern Carbide’s service expertise and regional footprint positions Peak Toolworks to better support manufacturers seeking long-term reliability, cost efficiency, and innovation in their production processes.
