Hexagon has released PC-DMIS 2025.2, the latest update to its widely used metrology software, introducing new automation capabilities aimed at helping quality and inspection teams operate faster and more efficiently. A key highlight of this release is the inclusion of the Inspect Automate module at no additional cost for users with an active MyCare/SMA subscription. By offering this previously paid module for free, Hexagon is broadening access to advanced automation features that significantly streamline day-to-day inspection workflows.

The newly added automation tools—Automate Playlists, Automate Pallets, and Automate Barcode—are designed to reduce manual input and accelerate batch inspection processes. Automate Playlists enable users to run multiple inspection routines in sequence with minimal oversight, while Automate Pallets simplify multi-part setups and help organize large batches more effectively. The Automate Barcode feature allows operators to initiate and manage inspections through barcode scanning, further eliminating repetitive tasks and reducing the potential for human error.

In addition to workflow automation, PC-DMIS 2025.2 introduces enhancements that support better control, consistency, and traceability throughout the inspection process. New access control options allow administrators to assign user roles, manage permissions, and regulate access to specific functionality—an important improvement for labs with multiple operators and varying skill levels. The update also expands pallet operation capabilities, giving users the flexibility to pause or modify pallet runs even while they are in progress.

To support high-volume production environments, Hexagon has added a new batch prefix feature that simplifies part identification and reporting across large runs, eliminating confusion and creating more organized datasets for downstream analysis. These enhancements collectively help reduce setup time, improve repeatability, and allow metrology professionals to focus more on critical engineering and problem-solving work rather than repetitive operational tasks.

With PC-DMIS 2025.2, Hexagon continues to evolve its metrology ecosystem by integrating smarter automation, improving usability, and delivering greater value to its subscription customers. The update reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting modern manufacturing environments that depend on fast, reliable, and highly accurate inspection processes.
