Following the recent business restructure at MTDCNC, the digital media industry leaders have now appointed Tom Skubala to further expand the reach of MTD’s global content and digital platforms. Joining the company as a Global Content Creator, Tom will be tasked with producing world-class content for both MTDCNC and The UK Machinist channels.
Commenting upon Tom joining MTDCNC, Managing Director Joe Reynolds says: “The recent restructure of the MTDCNC business was a critical process in preparing the company for its next phase of growth. Part of this growth trajectory has required us to implement structures and processes, as well as identify opportunities for accelerated growth over the next 12-24 months. Employing Tom will allow us to employ an experienced engineer with a proven talent for not just creating content, but creating engaging content that is building a significant audience. We are delighted that Tom has joined our team.”
Tom started his engineering career as a saw doctor at Ernest Bennett Saws at the age of 18 before moving to JKP Engineering where Tom has worked as a machinist for the last nine years. During his career to date, Tom has gained extensive experience working on the leading machine tool brands – both as a machinist and programmer. Discussing his elevation as an influencer on social media, Tom says: “My first post on Instagram (theukmachinist) was in June 2019 and I started the page to share videos I enjoyed watching myself – I never really thought it would amount to anything. Three years later, I have just hit 42,000 subscribers and I have also met a lot of people through Instagram and learnt a lot from watching other engineers.”
“My most viewed video to date has over 2 million views and it’s a simple 6 second video of me using a deburring tool on a piece of aluminium 7075. In the last seven days, I have reached 1.7 million accounts around the world with the biggest five viewing countries being Iran, the US, the UK, India and Turkey. I am looking forward to joining MTDCNC as I will get to work with some of the leading companies in the industry which will also give me some great content to share with my followers. This will hopefully grow theukmachinist and MTDCNC platforms into household names for the engineering industry.”
