MC Machinery Systems Inc. (MMS), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, has announced the acquisition of Ferro Technique Ltd., one of Canada’s longest-standing machine tool distributors. The move strengthens MC Machinery’s footprint in the Canadian market and combines the strengths of two well-established players in the machine tool industry.

Founded in 1952 and headquartered in Mississauga, Ferro Technique has built a strong reputation for supporting Canadian manufacturers with equipment, applications expertise, and service solutions. The company will continue operating under its existing name and leadership team, including president Brian Donnelly, vice-president Jeff Veldhoen, and vice-president of finance Kevin Farr. Donnelly, who has dedicated 38 years to Ferro, and Veldhoen, who has been with the company for 28 years, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, calling it an opportunity to expand Ferro’s value proposition with the backing of MC Machinery.

“We are extremely excited about the future of Ferro Technique now with the additional support of our new owner, MC Machinery,” Donnelly said. “This partnership positions us to bring even more value, innovation, and expertise to our Canadian customers.”

Ferro Technique is a respected member of the Canadian Machine Tool Distributors’ Association and has represented DN Solutions (formerly Doosan) since 1992. With a team of 27 service engineers and offices strategically located in Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada, the company is well-positioned to continue serving its established customer base while expanding its reach under MMS ownership. Its longstanding customer relationships and reputation for technical expertise have made Ferro a trusted partner in Canada’s manufacturing ecosystem for decades.

For MC Machinery, the acquisition reflects a deliberate strategy to strengthen its presence in Canada by aligning with a partner that shares its commitment to quality and customer support. Based in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, MC Machinery provides Mitsubishi Electric EDM, milling, and laser machines across North America. By integrating Ferro Technique into its operations, the company gains access to deeper regional knowledge, established customer networks, and a highly experienced workforce.

“Ferro’s history, customer loyalty, and expertise make them a perfect partner for expanding MC Machinery’s Canadian presence,” said Tony Imbrogno, president and CEO of MMS. “Together, we will leverage our combined strengths to provide even greater support to manufacturers across Canada.”

The acquisition underscores the continued consolidation and globalization of the machine tool industry. By combining resources, MMS and Ferro Technique can provide more comprehensive solutions, from cutting-edge equipment to training and applications support, ensuring Canadian manufacturers remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global market.

With this partnership, MC Machinery is signaling its long-term commitment to serving Canadian manufacturers. By retaining Ferro Technique’s trusted leadership team and leveraging its 70-plus years of market experience, MMS aims to build on the distributor’s strong legacy while introducing expanded product offerings and enhanced support services. For customers, the acquisition promises continuity in service combined with the added advantage of a global parent company’s resources and innovations.
