Marelli has further reinforced its global engineering and innovation ecosystem with the launch of a new research and development center in Bangalore, marking a significant expansion of its technical footprint in India. Located in the prestigious Embassy Manyata Tech Park, the facility will house approximately 350 engineers and specialists, strengthening the company’s capabilities across next-generation automotive technologies. The inauguration ceremony was attended by leaders from both Marelli India and the company’s global leadership team, highlighting the strategic importance of this milestone.

This new center builds upon Marelli’s growing engineering presence in Bangalore, complementing an existing technical facility established in 2022. Combined with its major R&D hub in Gurugram, near Delhi, Marelli now boasts an engineering workforce of over 1,200 professionals in India. This expansion reflects the company’s strong confidence in India’s rich talent pool and its crucial role in driving global innovation programs.

Designed to foster advanced development and collaborative problem solving, the Bangalore facility is equipped with sophisticated laboratories dedicated to optics, hardware development, and automotive validation. Flexible collaboration zones, training areas, and innovation-focused workspaces create an environment that encourages continuous learning, creativity, and cross-functional teamwork.

Engineers at the new R&D center will lead complete product development cycles across a wide spectrum of automotive systems. Their work will span infotainment platforms, instrument clusters, digital displays, powertrain management systems, body control modules, engine and battery management systems, and cutting-edge lighting technologies. The center will also support global programs for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), emerging zonal architectures, Automated Manual Transmissions (AMT), and advanced lighting solutions—areas that are shaping the future of mobility.

To further enhance its engineering agility, Marelli India is also increasing investments in in-house testing and validation infrastructure. This strategic move will allow more design verification and performance testing to be completed domestically, resulting in faster development cycles, increased reliability, and stronger quality control across programs.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Saju Mookken, Country Manager of Marelli India, emphasized the significance of this expansion: “The opening of our new R&D center in Bangalore is a major step in expanding our innovation capabilities and reinforcing our commitment to excellence for our customers. This milestone reflects Marelli’s confidence in India’s engineering talent and its vital role in our global R&D network. I am proud of the teams who made this possible — their dedication has created a world-class environment for collaboration, learning, and technological advancement.”

With this investment, Marelli continues to advance its mission of developing intelligent, efficient, and future-ready automotive technologies, while positioning India as a key pillar in its global innovation strategy.
