Mahindra Logistics Limited and L’Oréal India have taken a transformative step in redefining gender participation in India’s supply chain sector with the launch of the country’s first fully women-run warehouse. Located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, this pioneering facility marks a major milestone for inclusivity, workplace innovation, and economic empowerment within an industry where women have traditionally held limited operational roles.

This groundbreaking initiative places women at the forefront of every warehouse function, from inbound and outbound operations to inventory management, quality checks, and leadership roles. The approach not only opens doors for greater female participation in logistics but also challenges long-standing stereotypes surrounding operational workforces. To strengthen capability and ensure a safe, skill-enhancing environment, all team members have undergone extensive training in self-defence, POSH compliance, fire safety, first aid, and leadership—preparing them to excel in specialised and supervisory positions within the warehouse ecosystem.

Strategically designed to support L’Oréal India’s growing distribution network across central India, the Indore facility enables efficient, reliable supply to key markets including Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Satna, Ratlam, Rewa, Chhindwara, Singrauli, and other surrounding regions. The warehouse supports a broad portfolio of L’Oréal products through a streamlined fulfilment model that prioritises accuracy, speed, and service consistency.

A key feature of the new warehouse is its operation on Mahindra Logistics’ advanced, in-house warehouse management system. This technology platform provides real-time visibility into inventory, enhances operational accuracy, and optimises end-to-end workflows. Seamlessly integrated with L’Oréal India’s distribution processes, the system ensures better demand alignment, disciplined stock management, and higher supply chain reliability—delivering a smoother, more responsive experience for retail and distribution partners.

Speaking about the significance of the project, Hemant Sikka, Managing Director & CEO of Mahindra Logistics Limited, emphasised the need to expand women’s representation in core logistics operations as India’s supply chains scale rapidly. He noted that this collaboration with L’Oréal India is designed to reshape industry norms and build more inclusive, diverse, and future-ready workplaces. Arun Saravanakumar, Director – Supply Chain at L’Oréal India, added that launching the country’s first all-women warehouse underscores the company’s dedication to gender equality and shared value creation across communities, reflecting a meaningful step toward an inclusive and responsible supply chain.
