By Ashutosh Arora
Lapham-Hickey Steel, a fourth-generation, family-owned carbon service center headquartered in Bedford Park, Illinois, has announced the acquisition of Alkar Steel and Processing (ASAP), based in Warren, Michigan.
The 125,000-square-foot facility in Warren offers extensive slitting capabilities and supplies cold-rolled, galvanized, high-carbon, and hot-rolled pickled and oiled products. Post-acquisition, Alkar Steel will operate as a division of Lapham-Hickey Steel while maintaining its existing sales and operations team. Patrick Fayad, the current president of Alkar Steel, will continue in his role and retain a minority stake in the division.
“The Hickey family has had a long-standing relationship with the Fayad family for several decades. Their family-owned culture is a perfect fit with Lapham-Hickey’s vision and values,” said Brian Hickey, President of Lapham-Hickey Steel.
This acquisition strengthens both companies’ ability to serve local customers and those with multi-regional operations, providing enhanced support and streamlined solutions.
With this acquisition, Lapham-Hickey Steel extends its capabilities and market reach, now operating 13 locations across the Midwest, East Coast, Southeast, and Mexico. The company supplies a diverse range of products, including slit coil, sheet, plate, bars, tubing, and fabricated components, further solidifying its position as a leader in the metals service industry.
This strategic move reinforces Lapham-Hickey’s commitment to delivering quality products and exceptional service while expanding its footprint in key markets.
