JTEKT’s WELE UG630 VMC Delivers Enhanced Rigidity and Precision for Five-Axis Machining!
By Ashutosh Arora
At PMTS 2025, JTEKT Machinery is showcasing its WELE UG630 Vertical Machining Center (VMC), designed with an advanced overhead gantry design and an integrated, high-precision trunnion rotary table to enable multiple operations within a single setup. Ideal for a variety of machining tasks, including high-speed, heavy-duty, and five-axis machining, the UG630 offers increased rigidity and superior load capacity due to its vibration-dampening Meehanite cast iron base and large, precision spindle bearings.
The UG630 VMC includes a Heidenhain TNC 640 CNC system with a touchscreen display, optimizing the machine’s machining capabilities. The machine offers an X-axis travel of 640 mm (25.1″), Y-axis travel (spindle head) of 520 mm (20.4″), and Z-axis travel of 460 mm (18.1″), with a full 360-degree rotating C-axis and a B-axis swiveling range of -50 / +110 degrees, maximizing tool access to workpiece surfaces.
For speed and power, the UG630 features a rapid feed rate of 40 m/min (1,575 in/min) along the X, Y, and Z axes, with a 38-hp spindle that delivers speeds of up to 15,000 rpm. The VMC also includes a 60-pocket chain-type automatic tool changer, along with a Blum probe and toolsetter package. Its workpiece clamping area measures 650 mm (25.5″), ensuring robust capability for a range of machining applications.
Manufactured under strict quality control, all metal-to-metal contact points in the WELE UG630 VMC are hand-scraped, ensuring long-term accuracy and true geometry for superior machining precision. This high-performance VMC is designed to deliver lasting reliability and consistent results across various machining operations.
