JML Expands Chennai Plant, Enhances Efficiency and Sustainability!

JCBL Marrel Tippers Ltd (JML) has announced a major expansion of its manufacturing facility in Oragadam, Chennai, boosting production capacity by 25% to meet the increasing demand for its advanced products. This expansion enables JML to serve a broader customer base across industries such as defence, automotive, railways, and construction, while fostering eco-friendly practices and contributing to the local economy.
The first phase of the expansion adds 60,000 sq. ft. to the existing 100,000-sq.-ft. facility, with a second phase planned to add another 50,000 sq. ft.. The project creates 200 new jobs and provides opportunities for 40 additional suppliers in Tamil Nadu, driving regional economic growth.
The upgraded plant incorporates state-of-the-art technologies to improve production efficiency and product quality, including:
- Laser cutting and robotic welding
- CNC machining and airless painting
- Heavy-duty EOT cranes
By applying lean manufacturing principles, JML aims to reduce waste, enhance precision, and streamline operations.
Sustainability is at the forefront of JML’s expansion. Key initiatives include:
- 300-kilowatt solar power system, generating 1,350 kilowatt-hours of energy daily, with plans to expand to 1,200 kilowatts, increasing green energy production to 6,750 kilowatt-hours daily.
- A “Water from Air” system, producing 1,500 litres of water per day for operational and green space maintenance.
- A sewage treatment plant and a commitment to dedicating 30% of the facility to greenery.
