GreenBox Systems to Invest $144 Million in Automated Warehouse in Georgia!

GreenBox Systems has announced plans to invest $144 million in building an automated warehouse in Jackson, Georgia, approximately 35 miles southeast of Atlanta. The new facility, set to open in late 2025, will create 300 jobs in the region, expanding GreenBox’s capabilities to serve multiple customers with state-of-the-art automation technology.
The warehouse will feature Symbotic’s automation technology, which includes vision-enabled robots and artificial intelligence (AI), reducing the reliance on human labor for tasks like sorting, packing, and shipping. This is part of GreenBox’s goal to develop highly efficient, tech-driven warehouses that minimize manual labor while improving speed and accuracy in warehouse operations.
GreenBox Systems is a joint venture between SoftBank Group Corp. of Japan and Symbotic, a Massachusetts-based company that specializes in robotic automation solutions. This new location will be the second automated warehouse built by GreenBox, following the first facility being constructed in California.
The new warehouse will be part of a larger industrial park off Interstate 75, an area well-known for its high concentration of massive warehouses due to its proximity to Atlanta and the port of Savannah, which are key logistics hubs. This strategic location is expected to streamline GreenBox’s distribution capabilities, allowing the company to efficiently serve a growing number of customers.
The state of Georgia has committed to providing training for the new workforce, and GreenBox could qualify for $4.5 million in state income tax credits. These credits are contingent upon the company hiring workers who earn at least $35,600 per year. Additionally, Butts County is expected to offer property tax breaks on the equipment and property used by GreenBox, further incentivizing the company to expand its operations in the region.
GreenBox’s decision to establish the facility in Georgia underscores the growing trend of automating supply chains and logistics, driven by advances in robotics and AI technologies, and reflects the company’s commitment to transforming warehouse operations across multiple industries.
