DIGITISING THE AUTO COMPONENT INDUSTRY Should Be a Priority – ACMA India

India’s Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) held their third edition of the ACMA summit in May 2018. This edition of the summit took place in Pune and the main topic of discussion was digitizing the automotive component industry of India through new inventions such as smart factories.

Some of the notable personalities that graced this event include Tom Flack, President & Chief Procurement Officer, Tata Motors, NK Minda, President, ACMA, Anant Geete, Hon’ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India, and Ram Venkatarmani, VP, ACMA and Srivats Ram, Chairman, ACT.

Alongside the event, ACMA’s annual awards for the best performers in the auto component manufacturing industry were also presented to the winners.

This summit attracted lots of national and international experts in the field of Industry 4.0 who presented several case studies about the benefits of automating and digitizing the auto component industry. The aim was to show the attendees how companies that are part of the ACMA will gain by incorporating digital tools and automation into their production processes.

Several industry luminaries also conducted incisive sessions that focused on how to improve quality and drive towards smart manufacturing, without compromising environmental and sustainability concerns. The winners of the ACT 4th case study competition 2017 Gold Awards also made a presentation where they shared their experience with this topic.

In his speech, Chief Guest, Geete appreciated the unparalleled efforts put in by the ACMA Centre for Technology in facilitating the adoption of international best practices in the auto component industry of India. Tom Flack, President & Chief Procurement Officer, Tata Motors was also very positive and supportive of the idea of digitization and automation of the auto component industry.

Overall, this was a crucial summit for the auto component industry. The world is now moving towards smart technologies and automation. So, it is very crucial for the auto component industry in India to also follow the same path.
