China Retains Global Leadership in Industrial Robots for 11th Straight Year!

BEIJING: China has solidified its status as the world’s largest market for industrial robots for the 11th consecutive year. During the 2024 World Robot Conference in Beijing, Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), revealed that China produced 430,000 industrial robots in 2023, with new installations accounting for more than half of the global market over the past three years.
China’s rapid growth over the past decade has significantly bolstered the global robotics industry, with the nation achieving remarkable advances in bionic perception, cognition, planning, and control technologies. By July 2024, China held over 190,000 effective robot-related patents, representing nearly two-thirds of the global total.
Xin also highlighted the success of the “Robot plus Application” initiative, which has driven the integration of robots across various industries. The number of robots per 10,000 workers in China’s manufacturing sector surged from 49 to 470 over the past decade.
The World Robot Conference, a five-day event in Beijing, features 169 global enterprises, including industry giants like Tesla and Siasun, and showcases over 600 robots, with more than 60 making their global debut.
In the global race to develop humanoid robots, China has positioned itself as a leader. According to Goldman Sachs, the global humanoid robot market is expected to reach $154 billion by 2035. China, home to nearly 720,000 robot-related businesses and over 20 enterprises producing complete humanoid robot products, is on par with developed nations in this competitive market, according to Zhong Xinlong, an AI expert at CCID Consulting.
