Murata Machinery USA (Muratec) is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of events planned across North America throughout 2024. As a subsidiary of Murata Machinery Ltd., based in Kyoto, Japan, Murata Machinery USA specializes in providing sales, service, and support for the Muratec brand.
The journey began in May 1974 when Murata Machinery Ltd. established Murata of America Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina, focusing primarily on textile machinery. In October 1989, it expanded its operations by acquiring the Wiedemann Division from the Warner & Swasey Company, which led to the creation of Murata Wiedemann Inc. The unified brand “Muratec” was officially introduced in October 1991. Further streamlining operations, the company consolidated its U.S. subsidiaries, Murata of America Inc. and Murata Wiedemann Inc., into Murata Machinery USA Inc. by June 2002.
Muratec’s growth in North America extended beyond textile machinery, with an expanded automation portfolio covering material handling, machine tools, fabrication technology, and cleanroom automation solutions, reflecting a diversified range of offerings.
