Global investment firm Carlyle has acquired Kyoden Co., Ltd., a renowned Japanese PCB manufacturer, to support its expansion and technological development. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Nagano, Kyoden is recognized for its expertise in small-lot, high-variety PCB production, serving diverse sectors such as semiconductors, automotive, and wireless technology. With 2,100 employees across Japan and Thailand, Kyoden’s operations cater to both prototype and large-scale manufacturing needs.

The PCB industry faces rising demand for compact, multi-layered, and high-density circuits. Kyoden has a leading domestic market share in prototype PCBs and offers full EMS solutions from design to assembly. Through this strategic partnership, Carlyle will leverage its resources to help Kyoden expand internationally and enhance its high-multilayer PCB capabilities.

Kazuhiro Yamada, Co-Head of Carlyle Japan, emphasized Carlyle’s commitment to supporting Kyoden’s response to evolving customer needs. Hiroshi Naganuma, President of Kyoden, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating Carlyle’s expertise will strengthen Kyoden’s growth in the global PCB and EMS markets.
