Boosting AM Productivity: Renishaw’s Tempus Technology Breaks Boundaries
Renishaw introduces Tempus technology, revolutionizing additive manufacturing (AM) systems by significantly boosting productivity without compromising part quality.
Tempus technology, integrated into Renishaw’s RenAM 500 series of metal AM systems, incorporates an innovative scanning algorithm. This algorithm allows the laser to operate while the recoater is in motion, saving up to nine seconds per build layer. The cumulative time savings throughout the build cycle can reduce build time by up to 50% without any compromise in part quality. With Tempus technology, the laser adapts its movement to match the recoater, melting the powder as it is spread. This continuous process minimizes dwell time per layer, thus shortening cycle times.
This technology utilizes advanced scanning algorithms to optimize layer sequencing, maximizing productivity while ensuring part quality. While certain part geometries benefit more from this optimization, all geometries experience productivity improvements. Parts with thin, vertical features, for instance, are likely to see greater productivity gains.
Tempus technology comes standard in new RenAM Ultra metal AM systems, available with quad- or single-laser configurations. Existing RenAM 500 series customers can upgrade to Tempus technology for enhanced productivity, akin to adding an extra laser to their systems, according to Renishaw data.
