Axiro Semiconductor Pvt Ltd, a leading player in the semiconductor industry, has announced the opening of its state-of-the-art fabless semiconductor design centre in Whitefield, Bengaluru. This marks a significant milestone in India’s tech journey as the company becomes the first fabless semiconductor entity operating at scale within the country. With a strong emphasis on innovation, the new centre aims to propel India’s growth in critical industries, including 5G/6G, defense, satellite communications, and industrial IoT.

Axiro’s strategic move underscores its commitment to advancing India’s role in the global semiconductor supply chain. The company has already established a strong presence, shipping millions of integrated circuits (ICs) every month to global technology giants like Ericsson, Nokia, Hughes, and Siemens. With this new facility, Axiro plans to deepen its impact and foster further collaboration within India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem.

The design centre is equipped with cutting-edge labs and collaborative spaces aimed at pushing the envelope in chip design and development. It serves as a cornerstone for Axiro’s long-term vision of creating high-performance chip solutions designed in India and globally manufactured through key strategic partnerships. By 2026, the centre plans to expand its R&D team, further solidifying India’s position as a leader in the global semiconductor market.

Environmental sustainability also plays a key role in Axiro’s operations, with the company implementing an ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) roadmap to ensure responsible growth alongside technological advancement.

The initiative has also garnered strong industry support, including a significant investment of $36 million from CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd, a subsidiary of the Murugappa Group. This partnership marks CG Power’s entry into semiconductor design and aligns with India’s broader ambitions to become a global hub for semiconductor innovation and manufacturing.

Speaking at the inauguration, Sushil Pal, CEO of ISM, emphasized the strategic importance of Axiro’s efforts in contributing to India’s self-reliance in semiconductor technology. Vellayan Subbiah, Chairman of CG Power, highlighted that Axiro’s innovations would drive advancements in key sectors such as AI, automotive, and IoT, accelerating India’s integration into the global semiconductor market.

Through its focus on high-performance chip solutions, Axiro is setting the stage for India to emerge as a significant player in the global tech landscape, reinforcing its position as a hub of innovation and cutting-edge technology.
