Takumi are committed to the design, manufacture, sales and service of high-quality, high-speed machining centres worldwide. To further their commitment in developing their impressive and extensive range of 5-axis machine tools for all applications, they are constantly releasing new technology.

One recent release is the U800 MT, generally based on the current U800 model and equipped with a high torque tilting rotary table and a mill-turn spindle, the combination of which makes the U800MT capable of 5-axis machining, rotary milling and turning. This machine offers manufacturers within the aerospace, automotive, power generation and subcon sectors the ability to complete parts Ø800mm in diameter, 500mm high and weighing up to 1,200 kg.

Furthermore, another new launch is the new touch-screen Fanuc based PCCNC control system available on the UC400 5-axis machining centre. The impressive UC400 5-axis machining centre features include a high-speed spindle, table capacity of 250 kg and a 24 ATC.

One of the advantages of the new control is a video streaming industrial camera, linked to a secondary 19” display, to help observe the cutting status while machining, as well as enabling the operator to help set up a part on the machine without opening the door. To assist programmers and setters, DXF files can be imported from 3D files, providing a convenient programming method without CAD/CAM software. Conversational graphics and edit functions also provide operators with the capability to machine parts without having to use part programmes.

Another advantage is cloud-based IoT connectivity, providing the ability to transfer data and enabling direct communication between various devices such as PC’s, mobile devices and smartphones using 4/5G networks. The aim of IoT within the machine tool sector is to help manufacturers get the most out of their machines through constant awareness of the status of their machines in real time.

5-axis 3D simulation has been incorporated which is perfect in detecting possible collisions, a cutting preview and machining simulation, all helping the user to verify their part program will work correctly thus reducing costly mistakes.

You’ll be able to view these features on the UC400 at the MECSPE Bari show in Italy 28th-30th November.
