Fanuc UK Launches New M-950iA/500 Robot for Enhanced Versatility in Heavy Payload Operations
Fanuc UK Ltd, based in Coventry, has expanded its impressive range of industrial robots with the launch of the M-950iA/500, a high-capacity robot designed for heavy-duty lifting and handling applications. This new addition brings increased flexibility to industrial operations, offering a superior solution for handling large, heavy components.
The M-950iA/500 features a wide range of motion thanks to its serial-link configuration, which eliminates interference between the J3 and J2 arms. The J3 axis rotates an impressive 395 degrees, providing the robot with enhanced maneuverability. Capable of lifting up to 500kg, with a reach of 2,830mm, it boasts a powerful, three-axis wrist with high torque and inertia, making it ideal for demanding tasks in industries such as automotive manufacturing.
Designed with versatility in mind, the M-950iA/500 is perfect for applications like handling large castings, engine blocks, electric vehicle (EV) batteries, and car body panels. It’s also well-suited to operations such as friction stir welding, drilling, and riveting.
One of the standout features of the robot is its ability to rotate the J3 axis 395 degrees, offering 75% more rotation than the comparable M-900iB/360 model, which is limited to 224 degrees. This expanded range of motion allows for greater flexibility in operating within different layout configurations, making it adaptable to specific customer needs. Additionally, the M-950iA/500 can easily switch between product lines, thanks to Fanuc’s iRVision fully integrated visual detection system and intelligent features.
The M-950iA/500 is built for speed and strength, with the three main axes (J1-J3) moving at up to 100 degrees per second. Powered by Fanuc’s AC servomotor drive system, it is an ideal solution for heavy part lifting, palletizing, packaging, and complex material handling tasks. Its high precision, with positioning accuracy of ±0.08mm, is further enhanced by the option for Fanuc’s Accuracy and Stiffness Enhancement for applications requiring even greater precision or operating in environments with external forces.
The M-950iA/500 comes with Fanuc’s user-friendly iPendant for easy programming and setup, and connects to the R-30iB Plus controller, which features FANUC iHMI setup guides and substantial memory capacity to support large and complex operations.
