The VL 100 GT from EMAG is setting new standards in precision manufacturing by combining hard turning and grinding in a single setup. This innovative machine caters to the growing demand for high-precision finishings on components like gear wheels, sprockets, and camshafts used in mass production.
One of the standout features of the VL 100 GT is its efficient integration of hard turning with both internal and external grinding. By doing so, it eliminates the need for reclamping, thus ensuring greater positional accuracy and reducing setup errors. This is crucial for maintaining the highest standards in dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
Incorporating a vertical design and pick-up automation, the VL 100 GT allows its spindle to collect raw parts directly from a conveyor, negating the need for separate robotic loading systems. This not only streamlines the manufacturing process but also contributes to cost efficiency.
The machine boasts a base made from MINERALIT® polymer concrete, which is noted for its superior vibration dampening properties, outperforming cast iron by eight times. This results in twist-free surfaces with an impressive Rz of less than 1.2 µm.
Additionally, the gravity-driven design facilitates unobstructed chip flow, leading to fewer thermal disturbances and reduced cleaning requirements. The VL 100 GT’s linear motor drive on the X-axis further enhances its capabilities, allowing for precise out-of-round grinding of complex profiles and eccentric surfaces.
With a compact footprint of just 9.6 square metres, the VL 100 GT is ideally suited for integration into linked production lines, thanks to its modular base platform. The addition of an integrated measuring probe enables real-time inspections during setup, ensuring continued adherence to quality standards.
