A manufacturer which has completed projects for the International Space Station, Nestle and Boeing will create new jobs if plans for an additional building are approved next week.
Holscot Fluoroplastics is seeking permission from South Kesteven District Council for a new development on the northern edge of Alma Park Industrial Estate in Grantham.
The company currently employs 45 people and the new unit would create an additional five positions.
According to planning documents, the building could be used for a mixture of storage and manufacturing processes.
Council planning officers have recommended that committee members approve the application at a meeting on Wednesday 13 November.
A document submitted to the authority on behalf of the applicant said: “The proposal new building is important to the expansion of Holscot Fluoroplastics Ltd.
“They export Worldwide as well as having a large UK client base.
“Holscot is a Grantham success story as they continue to explore different uses for their main product to expand their client base.
“To this end, as in most production companies, increase in working/storage space is vital to the continued health and expansion of the company.
“As Holscot have no further space whatsoever to expand on their present site, the obvious choice is to expand in the undeveloped area immediately to the north of their existing site.
“The only alternative is to relocate perhaps out of the area or county which would be loss to the present employment levels and economy of the area. It is vital to maintain and assist in the expansion of the core companies in the area.”
