A speciality chemical company based in East Yorkshire has announced plans to open a huge new worldwide distribution hub in the town of Goole.

Croda, which was founded in 1925, is investing more than seven million pounds into the expansion which will create two hundred new jobs.

The company creates, makes and sells speciality chemicals which are used in three key sectors, health and beauty, engine lubricants and plastics. The new site will become the distribution hub for products made at its manufacturing sites in Northern England, and for the European delivery of other products which are produced worldwide.

The new investment will also include a new product-sampling department and Employee Education Centre which will be used to train its workers from across the world.

Maarten Heybroek, President of Croda Europe says “The announcement demonstrates the company’s commitment to UK manufacturing and provides long term job security for the workforce which will move from our existing operation and for the new quality warehouse roles we will create.”

The site in Goole was chosen due to its transport links and because two of the company’s other sites are within just ten miles.
