Eric Hulen of MTDCNC is at the DMG MORI facility in Hoffman Estates to interview Luis Butler, OEM Account Manager for WTO. Primarily focusing on machine tool OEMs, Luis talks about WTO products on display, including skiving units with a cycle that allows users to do OD splines, ID splines, helical gears, and straight gears on the turning centre without relocating or having to change the process over to a different machine. WTO also offer a live broaching unit that’s able to do OD and ID splines and multiple different profiles offered by the cutting tool manufacturer. Live broaching results in less damage to the machine as it puts all the wear and tear on the driven toolholder that can be sent in for a repair at a minimal cost. Luis also talks about a special Industry 4.0 Bluetooth solution for factory production facilities. The owner of WTO brought forward the idea of a Bluetooth holder that could monitor the actual RPM of the spindle, vibration levels, and temperature of the housing. The solution aims to increase efficiency for companies doing larger production runs so they’re able to identify when to take the holder in and out of service. Catch more details in the video!
