About

Sodick History Since the company’s founding in 1976, Sodick has been at the forefront of Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) technology. Our journey began with the vision of our founder, Toshihiko Furukawa, a pioneering engineer committed to transforming metal machining. Revolutionising Metal Machining In the early 1960s, while working for a Tokyo machine tool manufacturer, Toshihiko Furukawa recognised the limitations of existing EDM technology. His breakthrough came in 1963 with the development of Non-Consumable Electrode Circuits and the first Non-Consumable Electrode Transistor Power Supply. Furukawa’s innovations didn’t stop there; he introduced the revolutionary Loran machining method, which allowed for precise machining of workpiece sides, setting a new standard for accuracy and efficiency in EDM. Customer-Centric Approach At Sodick, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. From the beginning, we’ve prioritised listening to our customers’ needs and have continually evolved to meet and exceed their expectations. This customer-focused approach drives our relentless pursuit of technological advancements and excellence in manufacturing.
